Well, the Summer is over, and we are now well into Autumn, the nights are drawing in and there is a distinct chill in the mornings. We hope our members enjoyed reading our first Newsletter and we would welcome any feedback on its content. The Newsletter gives the Executive Committee more of an opportunity to elaborate on some of the issues that may be of concern to our members.

Looking back over the Summer we experienced some really hot days and we hope that all of our Journal readers had a chance to get away for a holiday and returned safely.

Quite a few events took place in the Town during August and September, one of which was the Buntingford Classic Car Show which, due to family commitments, the writer could not attend. Reports are that the day went off without a hitch and attendance was again very high and the weather was kind to us. The October issue of the Buntingford Journal has a full write up of the event.

One event that must be mentioned was the unveiling of a commemorative statue to celebrate the life of Finn, an extremely brave police dog who lived in the town with his handler, Dave Wardell and family. The ceremony took place on Sunday 27th July in Layston Court Gardens, one of Finn's favourite places to walk. You can read all about the event in the October issue of the Buntingford Journal.

Just a gentle reminder that at the end of this month, October 26th, British Summer Time ends, and the clocks go back.

If you have purchased a copy of the Buntingford Journal from one of our retail outlets, why not join the Civic Society. Membership is £10 per annum which guarantees a copy of the Journal delivered to your door. A membership application form can be downloaded from the membership section of this website.
