To those who managed to attend the Society's AGM on the 21st April, we hope you found the evening interesting and learnt a little about the activities undertaken by various Society members throughout the year. We are always looking for new ideas and welcome comments, ideas and projects to which, it is felt, the Society could add value. A prime example of member project involvement is the River Rib restoration project which is ongoing and the coming months should hopefully see a landmark in this long running project, but more about that in the Members Newsletter later this year. If you do have any ideas that you would like to share with the committee then please send them to the writer at chairman@buntingfordcivic.org.uk.

Following on from last month we hope all residents and businesses in the Town found the time to participate in the consultation on the HCC plans to "Improve Buntingford Town Centre". The consultation period ended at midnight on the 26th April and the results will probably be available sometime in the next couple of months.

Just a gentle reminder to all members that May is the month for renewing your membership of the Society. The membership fee is still £10 per annum which includes your Journal being delivered to your door. This year you will not have to submit a renewal form unless your circumstances have changed since renewing for 2025 / 2026 or have joined the Society since October 2025, where renewal is not required until May 2027. If you do need to update your information, then please contact us at secretary@buntingfordcivic.org.uk.

The preferred payment method is by Bank Transfer as it saves admin costs, if made by Bank Transfer, the account name is Buntingford Civic Society, Account number 80209511, Sort code 20-73-26, and please quote your surname and first line of address as the payment reference. Alternatively, cash or a cheque made payable to Buntingford Civic Society can be sent to the Membership Secretary, c/o Buntingford Town Council, The Manor House, Buntingford, SG9 9JQ. Please add your name and address to the rear of the cheque or if paying cash a note with your details would be appreciated.

Now that we have lighter evenings and slightly warmer days it is so nice to see the spring bulbs, especially daffodils, brightening the verges, especially on Station Road, the daffodil fairies certainly did a good job over the Winter, let’s hope they return this coming Autumn.
