By the time you read this you will probably be looking forward to your summer holidays, especially as the schools break up later this month.

My wife and I recently returned from a 1-week holiday in Cornwall in a luxury house overlooking the sea at Treyarnon Bay near "Padstein". The weather was a bit disappointing with high, cold winds, and quite a bit of rain, but the fact we were holidaying with our family made up for the lack of "beach time".

I hope you have better weather, but whatever the weather enjoy the break and change of scenery, especially if you are spending time with friends or family or both.

Some good news about the River Rib restoration project. This part of the overall project is for improvements to Reach 3, from the London Road bridge to the Luynes Rise bridge, with special attention to the weir and its surroundings. It is hoped that permission can be gained from the Environment Agency to completely remove the weir and install a different typeof footpath bridge across the river at this point. This also includes works to alleviate the bank erosion on the east bank and it is hoped, improvements to the west bank, funding permitting. A site project meeting has been arranged for early July to discuss the preferred option which is full weir removal with new clear span bridge and to formulate a plan going forward.

On the planning front we have been advised by East Herts Planning that the first stage of public engagement on the new East Herts Local Plan is now available for comment. EHDC has now launched the Scoping Consultation, which will be open for comments until 10 July 2026. For more information visit the Buntingford Town Council website, under Planning or contact them at admin@buntingford-tc.gov.uk or call on 01763 272 222. You can also visit their Facebook page here. The information can also be found on our website and Facebook page.

Regrettably, we have had to postpone our Civic National theme of "FIX ONE THING" for the immediate future but we hope to do this later in the year, "WATCH THIS SPACE". Just a reminder our Facebook page can be found here.

Enjoy your Summer.
