To those who managed to attend the Society’s AGM on the 21st April, we hope you found the evening interesting and learnt a little about the activities undertaken by various Society members throughout the year. Unfortunately, three of our Executive Committee members have decided not to stand as committee members for the coming year. They are, Jennifer Keeling, Richard Prince and Antony Parish. Our grateful thanks go to them for the support they have given the Society over many years. Our invitation to ANY member of the Society is, if you could give of a couple of hours per month then we would welcome you as an Executive Committee member. If you would like to know more then please contact either chairman@buntingfordcivic.org.uk or secretary@buntingfordcivic.org.uk. A very special thanks goes to our guest speaker for the evening, Peter Lohmeyer, his talk about “MY 13 YEARS at the PLAYBOY CLUB” was very interesting and enlightening, we would recommend, if you hear he is doing it again, you make every effort to go and listen. If nothing else it brought back memories of the 70’s. On the planning front we have been advised that the application to build 600 dwellings on land to the north of the 507, west of the A10, that was refused by EHDC Planning, has gone to appeal. The appeal will be heard by Inquiry on 8th September and is expected to last for 7 days, venue to be decided. The appeal reference is 6008238. The other application for the development of employment land, to the south of the A507, west of the A10, application number 3/24/1255/OUT, was refused by EHDC Planning on 6th May 2026. As you know the Society is a founder member of Civic Voice and every year, they nominate a day, “Civic Voice Day”, when Civic Societies all over the UK do something in the Community to recognise Societies and the great work they do throughout the year. This year it is 20th June. The National theme this year is “FIX ONE THING”. We have some ideas as to what we could fix, but we would need some volunteers to help. We will publish our ideas on our Facebook page to coincide with the June issue of the Journal, www.facebook.com/ buntingfordcivicsociety . Graham Waite, Chairman, Buntingford Civic Society If you have any queries about Buntingford Civic Society or issues you would like to raise, you can email the Chairman direct at chairman@buntingfordcivic.org.uk. The June issue of the Buntingford Journal is now available from the usual retailers. The July issue will be available from the 26th June.
