The Town Council Chatter Tables are back after an enforced break. The Chatter table meets between 10 and 11.45 am on the first and third Mondays of every month (unless these are bank holidays). Established in 2019 as an initiative to encourage all those who would welcome the opportunity to make new friends while enjoying a free cup of tea or coffee and biscuits, the group now has a regular core of residents who enjoy the opportunity to meet up and just chat. There is no set agenda, just the chance to have a natter, and anyone who would like to join in would be welcome.

Most of the Chatter Table regulars have lived in Buntingford for many years and witnessed significant changes to the town. Their stories about what it used to be like or how much the shops have changed are quite fascinating. If you are new to the town and would like to join in please come along. You will be sure of a welcome and may be able to learn a lot about the town and what it can offer you.

Civic societies have been champions of what makes places attractive, enjoyable, and distinctive for generations. Over the past ten years, countless improvement schemes of all kinds have been undertaken by civic societies in cities, towns and villages up and down the country. Streets have been cleaned, litter picked up, trees planted, plaques erected, flowers planted, rivers cleaned, events organised, and places championed! Buntingford has done all of these.

National Civic Day this year is on Saturday 18th June, a national day to inspire communities to work together to celebrate and champion where they live - to create civic pride in their place. Let us see what we can do to mark the day. Ideas welcomed!

The Buntingford W.I. would like to do something for the town for the Queen's Platinum celebrations. With the Town Council's blessing they will be decorating the roof of the 'pump' on Market Hill. They will do it in red, white and blue, using items made by members - crocheted, knitted, material flowers, animals, squares, different shapes etc. The idea is still in its infancy. The WI plan to decorate the supporting posts also, and will ensure no nails are used or anything that could harm the pump.

The Civic Society AGM this year will be held on the 5th April at the Community Centre. Date in diary please, further details nearer the time.
