Coronavirus - (COVID-19). Guidance for social distancing can be found on this Government website.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to write my monthly tome when the only news seems to be increasing worries over Covid and reports of events being cancelled or seriously curtailed. As I write, the situation seems to be worsening daily and it is difficult to see how Christmas will not be severely impacted.

As a direct result of Covid, this year's Remembrance Sunday will still go ahead but with a drastically reduced audience. The High Street parade will not take place and the wreath laying will be on a much reduced scale. Unfortunately it will not be possible to have the usual gathering of schools, scouts and guides etc. Very sad but completely understandable.

I must recognise, and pass on my thanks, to Karen Lavers in these difficult times. If you are not aware, Karen has run the Buntingford food bank for several years providing much needed assistance to families in need. She has also recently instigated the Buntingford 'walking markets' which I know have been a huge success and most recently the 'pumpkin parade' which will give the kiddies something to do in the absence of their usual trick or treating. I am not sure where Karen gets the time or energy, but she deserves our utmost thanks.

Dandara have submitted their application for a further 23 dwellings in Aspenden Road, adjacent to their current ongoing development. This really is an unnecessary and unwanted application. It will do nothing but increase traffic along an already unsuitable and unsafe road and has been submitted by Dandara purely to make them more money. It brings nothing to Buntingford or its residents and should, I believe, be strongly resisted.

Please keep safe everyone. Look after yourselves and please help those you believe may be struggling. And remember - HANDS ... FACE ... SPACE.
