September started with another brilliantly organised, well attended Classic Car Show. Although I wasn't able to be there all day I have received comments that the High Street was 'rammed' nearly all day. Thanks from the Civic Society go to all those involved in the organising and running of the day which is now a well-established, annual event, visited not only by local residents but by people from far and wide, including one couple from Northern Ireland. A big 'well-done' to all. Here''s looking forward to the 2016 show. Buntingford Community Area Neighbourhood Plan By now you all should have received notification that the Buntingford Community Area Neighbourhood Plan is out for public consultation. The consultation period ends on October 12th, so if you haven't already read it and commented on its contents then you still have time to do so. I would encourage you to spend a little time doing this as it sets out the way the Area should develop over the next 20 or so years and includes policies on Education, Business & Employment; Environment & Sustainability; Health, Leisure & Recreation; Housing and Transport. The Plan is available to view online on the Town Council website and there is an electronic link to a comments sheet. Alternatively you can view the document at the Manor House or the Library. Copies are also available in the villages; call your local parish council to find out where the copies are located and when they are available for viewing. The Plan covers the villages of Aspenden, Buckland & Chipping, Cottered, Hormead and Wydial, and the town of Buntingford. Finally, I was quite concerned to read the letter printed in the September Journal from Mr Nik Wilson, who from the content of his letter is confusing the Phoenix Project with the many various initiatives that have been ongoing over the last 3 years with various groups around the town including the Civic Society, the Chamber of Commerce, BARD and the Town Council. He appears to have mixed these initiatives into one, whereas in fact there are many. I would encourage him to contact any of the aforementioned groups who I am sure will do everything in their power to clarify the situation for him or he can contact me directly and I will be only too pleased to meet him and bring him up to date with what is going on in the town. Graham Waite, BCS Chairman If you have any queries about Buntingford Civic Society or issues you would like to raise, you can email the Chairman direct at chairman@buntingfordcivic.org.uk.
