Presentations to the Winners of the 'If I Ruled Buntingford' Essay Writing Competition

Derek Cooper, Chairman of Buntingford Civic Society, with winners of the Buntingford Junior Essay Writing Competition, who were presented with their prizes on 22nd April 2009, at Benson Hall in Buntingford.

Eleanor England, winner of Buntingford's Junior Essay Writing competition, receiving her £ 50 cash prize and her winners certificate from Derek Cooper. Eleanor, from Standon, is 13 and currently attends Ralph Sadleir School.

Runner-up, Kelly Game from Buntingford, received a £ 25 cash prize. Twelve-year-old Kelly goes to Edwinstree Middle School. When asked by Derek Cooper, what top change Kelly would like to see in Buntingford, she said she would like to have a crossing on Bowling Green Lane to enable the children to cross the road safely when going to school.

Budding saxophonist, twelve year old Lewis Sallows, is going to put his £ 25 cash runner-up prize money towards a new saxophone. Lewis, who lives in Puckeridge and goes to Ralph Sadleir School, is passionate about music. At the top of his list of changes for Buntingford, would be to have a large music centre with concert hall built.
