East of England Plan
We have advised
EHDC
that we wish to be consulted in the 'Local Development
Framework' this is part of the
Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act
which came into force September 2004. The Civic Society has access to considerable
expertise regarding our heritage which must be taken into account and protected
in future development.
A great deal is happening in the field of planning. We
now know that west of Stevenage will be built-up; the
East of England Plan
is currently subject to the Enquiry in Public process. The threat to
Hertfordshire is immense even if there are substantial reductions in proposed
development.
Alongside all of this are
BAA's
ambitions for Stansted and Luton Airport
expansion plans. It was a flaw in the
BAA
exhibition that Stansted was looked
at in isolation from all that is going-on around elsewhere and we are squeezed
and squashed from all sides!
Derek K Cooper, Chairman. December 2005.
