University backs Heritage Open
Days
We are pleased to announce the Open
University's support for Heritage Open Days this year. Heritage Open
Days is about opening doors, eyes and minds. So we are
delighted to team up with
an organisation that broadens horizons by providing
high-quality university education to all.
Indulge your passion for arts and
culture with The Open University Is the pen
mightier than the sword? What's the difference between fame
and infamy? What happens when different cultures collide? Does
the past really inform the present? Why do traditions change?
Get to grips with these compelling questions and more with an
OU arts and culture course.
If you're curious about your local
heritage, then why not start with our arts short course
Heritage, whose heritage? (A180). You can
explore who protects our heritage and how you can get
involved. This short course only takes 15 weeks and is
entirely online, so you can learn flexibly at home at a time
to suit you.
Or if you would like a broader
understanding of many of the significant arts and cultural
movements of the last centuries, you might prefer the course
The arts past and present (AA100). This is a
broadly focused course designed to satisfy your
curiosity. It introduces you to university-level study
in the arts across a range of subject areas, including
history, art history, philosophy, classics, history of
science, religious studies, music and literature.

Bristan sponsors Inclusive Design
Award
This Award sponsored in 2009 for the first
time by Bristan, is presented to a project which seeks to
offer ideas on improving access and finding the balance
between conservation and the barriers which challenge access.
This award gives the opportunity for exemplary schemes to
demonstrate that good modern design can help reconcile the
interests of conservation with those of access for
all. Claire Ward, Marketing Manager for Bristan said
"Through our support of the Inclusive Design Award we
recognise the importance our product ranges have on social
equality; making it possible for everyone to live independent
lives to their fullest. Not only are we encompassing ergonomic
design for the disabled & the aging population but also
the able bodied will understand and appreciate these stylish
yet functional ranges from our inclusive design
collection.
With this approach to design we can ensure
our Bristan products are accessible to everyone. For instance
our walk-in showers and wall-hung sanitaryware allow
wheelchair access & easier cleaning, whilst our stylish
grab bars & lever handle taps are perfect for all ages and
abilities."
