Understanding places Civic Voice has teamed up with MADE and Places Matter, the architecture and built environment centres based in Birmingham and Liverpool, to offer free urban design days for civic society members. The objective of the day is to help civic society members explore what makes successful places so as to more effectively engage in debate about changes in our towns, cities and villages.

  • Preston - February 26 (10-4)
  • Birmingham, March 12th (10-4)

Civic Day making it a success

Civic Day is a new initiative when civic societies across England will invite people to celebrate their area and discover more about where they live. A diverse program of events and activities showcasing civic society activity is being planned, focused on Saturday June 25th 2011 as the first Civic Day. You do not need to be a Civic Voice member to participate in any Civic Day workshop or for Civic Day itself.

  • Chester - January 25 (10-1)
  • Portsmouth - January 26 (1-4)
  • Blackpool - February 5 (10-1)
  • Newcastle - February 7 (2-5)
  • Sheffield - February 9 (1-4)
  • Lincoln, February 12 (10-1)

Spring network events

We are pleased to announce two major new events bringing civic societies together to debate views and share ideas and inspiration.

  1. Spring Network North - Manchester Friends Meeting House Saturday March 19th
  2. Spring Network South - Reading Town Hall Saturday March 26th

These events will help build the foundations for the next chapter of the civic movement and include workshops tackling the issues that members believe to be the most important to strengthen civic societies. Put the event most local to you in your 2011 diary! More information and how to register here
