The Civic Trust - Have a Voice.

You may recall that the Civic Trust has more than 700 member societies and nationwide membership of 250,000. Recently the Trust has issued its updated 'statement of purpose' which is reproduced here and can also be found on the Trust website www.civictrust.org.uk or the link from www.buntingfordcivic.org.uk. In addition you will also find a request for support from the Trust President Griff Rhys Jones as he outlines the proposed future direction of the Trust and societies.

' The Civic Trust campaigns for better places in which people can live, work and relax. We believe that buildings must be designed and built to respond to the needs of the people who use them; parks and green spaces must be accessible to, and safe for, their communities. We believe in educating people about their heritage through preserving the best of the past, and designing for the future.'

Buntingford Civic Society aims to meet the demands of the Trust purpose and through the hard work of a few dedicated people on various committees and practical work around Town we can demonstrate that in the main we are on target. There is a but and a big one - and it is where are the people who will carry on the good work for the Town over the next ten years or so ? If you share the goals in the Trust statement this is a heartfelt request that you make yourself known and come forward and be a Civic Society activist using your range of life skills.

Please don't just think about it - make it happen. Contacts are in this copy of the Journal or on our website.
