Have a Voice - a Wake-Up Call

The Ombudsman has not accepted claims by Fairfield residents that the gross intrusion in their environment by the Barratt London Road development, which was approved by East Herts Planning in the face of balanced objections to increased density, does not meet the criteria of undermining 'natural justice'.

Buntingford is a target for speculative developers and the Barratt experience is a wake-up call to all residents. It is critical that you pay heed to planning applications which will effect the Town and may impact on your home.

The Civic Society has requested that Anne Freimanis, CEO, EHDC, shares their proposals with us on the implementation of the 'Localism and Decentralisation' Bill. In reply we were advised that it is too early to comment. We will follow-up in the coming weeks. The Bill is important for it creates the opportunity for local communities to have a real say in what happens in their town.

As we have said this is a wake-up call. All residents must care about the Town's development over the next few years or more.

The Civic Society vision for Buntingford was published in the December/January Journal. Please reread it and join us in fighting to ensure that the vision we put forward in the consultation period is fulfilled over the coming years.

Derek K Cooper, Chairman.
